Rumor: Microsoft Losing an IPTV Biggie

Concurrent Computer Corp. (Nasdaq: CCUR) has won an IPTV middleware contract with BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA), ousting Microsoft Corp. (Nasdaq: MSFT) and its Mediaroom platform, according to an industry source.

The source says Microsoft might acquire Concurrent as a result.

Losing BT could be quite a blow to Microsoft, although it would still have other big carriers like AT&T Inc. (NYSE: T) as Mediaroom customers. Its most recently announced IPTV win was with Telus Corp. (NYSE: TU; Toronto: T). (See Telus Expands Its IPTV.)
