Orange Vision Lacks IPTV

9:30 AM -- Orange, the "key brand" of Orange (NYSE: FTE), is to launch a "new global brand vision and campaign which reflects the company’s transformation into one of the world’s leading providers of digital communications," starting in the U.K. on July 5, this Saturday. (See Orange Unveils New Vision.)

Très excitant, oui?

As the new vision's main catchphrase is “Together we can do more,” EuroBlog thought this might, at last, herald the arrival of Orange UK 's delayed IPTV service, so allowing the operator to start marketing a triple-play bundle. (See FT Preps UK IPTV Launch.)

The lack of that service combo -- broadband, voice, TV/video on demand -- is having an impact on Orange UK, which is losing customers to rivals such as Sky , BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA), Tiscali UK , and cable operator Virgin Media Inc. (Nasdaq: VMED), each of which has a triple-play package of some sort.

So does the new vision, and invitation to do more, mean the arrival of Orange UK's TV-over-broadband service?

Malheureusement, non.

A France Telecom spokeswoman says the British IPTV service is still being tested, but still on the "roadmap" for later this year. The folks at Orange UK "want to make sure they have it perfect before it's launched," she says.

Perfection is what we'll be expecting, then.
