No Bids for Tiscali

9:00 AM -- European broadband access player Tiscali SpA , which is looking for a buyer, has named JP.MorganChase and Banca IMI as its financial advisors. (See Tiscali Seeks Buyer.)

But the carrier, which has more than 1.8 million broadband customers in the U.K. and more than 550,000 in Italy, noted in a short public statement that, at present, "there are no formal offers by operators neither for the whole Group nor for individual assets."

Broadband customer bases have attracted a lot of M&A attention in the past few years, so, depending on the valuations, there's a good chance Tiscali and Telecom Italia (TIM) , which is trying to offload its French broadband business, will find some interested parties. (See Alice Attracts Suitors.)
