IBM Supports Jazztel VOD

HONG KONG -- IBM (NYSE: IBM) announced today that Jazztel, a leading Spanish telecommunications and data transmission carrier, installed IBM BladeCenter T to support its new on-demand programming service. Called Videoclub, the service allows Jazztelia TV's users to purchase and view a wide variety of programming including films, television series, documentaries, cartoons, educational content andsports on demand.

"With Videoclub, we have combined the best of all worlds, including pay-per-view, on demand access and the comfort of viewing programming from home," said Concepcion Ferreras, content manager, Jazztelia TV. "Customers can watch what they want, when they choose, all thanks to the IBM BladeCenter technology infrastructure that allows us to increase or reduce capacity based on viewer demand and scales to support our future growth."

Videoclub works like a DVD with all the key features, including a clear and easy-to-navigate menu from which customers can fast-forward, rewind, slow down and pause content. Also known as video-on-demand, the service provides access to a catalogue of free and pre-paid content. Each program is priced on its type and production year, and customers can choose from a wide catalog of options. In addition, the service offers customized recommendations and a "new features" section so that customers always know the newest offerings.
