Google Tunes In to TV

9:40 AM -- Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) is developing a multimedia, multi-platform TV in partnership with Sony Corp. (NYSE: SNE) and Intel Corp. (Nasdaq: INTC) that will use the online giant's Android as its operating system, according to a report in The New York Times.

One of the ideas behind the move is to enable applications developers to create all sorts of new software tools for the so-called Google TV platform, in the same way they have done for the Android mobile handset market.
