AMSTERDAM -- Harmonic Inc. (NASDAQ: HLIT) today unveiled the Rhozet® Workflow System (WFS) Appliance, a fully-integrated, enterprise-class transcoding server solution that delivers remarkable performance while reducing operating expenses by easing installation, configuration and management. WFS Appliance brings together the powerful and extensible Rhozet WFS task-based workflow engine, which automates management of the video asset transformation process, with robust enterprise hardware and Harmonic’s appliance software framework.

When combined with Harmonic’s powerful ProStream™ 5000, a file-based transcoding device incorporating Rhozet Quality Control System (QCS) and Carbon Coder™ universal transcoding software, Harmonic delivers a turnkey, universal transcoding platform solution that requires minimal OPEX investment.

“This new solution offers the best of both worlds by combining the reliability, scalability, broad format support and quality output of Harmonic’s market-leading file-based transcoding solutions with the cost benefits of a pre-configured, fully integrated, hardware/software platform. This powerful, yet cost-effective solution meets the high-volume transcoding requirements of broadcast facilities and professional studios,” said Tom Lattie, Rhozet General Manager at Harmonic.
