BigBand Lands Austrian Deal
"Implementing innovative technologies, such as those from BigBand Networks, to more effectively manage and use our digital capacity is the cornerstone of our strategy for growing our subscriber base," said Walther Steinhuber, managing director, Telesystem Tirol. "The BigBand BMR allows us to refine our focus on critical customer issues, like insuring high quality video, while putting in place an extensible system that can meet our future growth plans. We are also very pleased to benefit from BigBand Networks' expert services, including the assurance of local support, which helps minimize downtime for subscriber retention and growth."
Telesystem Tirol is utilizing the BigBand BMR to control its line-up of digital offerings, as well as manage bandwidth efficiency and content quality of each program via RateShaping® bit rate adaptation. This is designed to provide subscribers with an increasing variety of digital programming and high quality viewing experiences. Additionally, the BigBand BMR provides QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation), which is designed to efficiently deliver digital video programming with compatibility to subscribers' access devices.
"With this installation, BigBand Networks increases its reach across Europe, adding Telesystem Tirol to a growing number of innovative cable operators committed to providing high quality services to its customers," said Sam Kershaw, vice president and director EMEA, BigBand Networks. "We have worked closely with Telesystem Tirol on its deployment of the BigBand BMR, jointly creating what we believe to be a world class system for handling the processing, management and delivery of digital video."
