OSLO, Norway -- Appear TV, a global provider of next-generation head-ends for broadcast and IP television, today announced the successful deployment of its SC2000 IP Streamer as part of Croatian broadband operator Iskon Internet d.d’s new MPEG4 DSL platform. The project, delivered with Verso, a leading Croatian systems integrator, helped create the infrastructure for its new Iskon.TV IPTV service.

The SC2000 is a carrier-grade ‘head-end in a box’ that enables operators to receive, descramble, scramble and stream multiple video feeds over any network in high quality, using a single box. It comes with Gbit capacity and handles all signal processing, from reception to IP streaming, internally.

Since the commercial launch of its IPTV service in April 2009, Iskon, one of Croatia’s leading triple play operators, offers subscribers over 40 standard definition television channels to its subscribers located in nine cities in the country. In addition to video, Iskon.TV also enables customers to surf the Internet on their TVs, and offers a range of interactive services, including VOD and network-PVR functionality.

“We are very pleased that Iskon has chosen Verso and Appear TV to supply the broadcast solution on which to launch its new IPTV service, and we are pleased that the system is performing reliably,” stated Boris Obradov, Consulting Manager at Verso.
