NAPERVILLE, Ill. -- Tellabs (Nasdaq: TLAB) received industry certification from CableLabs, the cable industry's research and development consortium, for its high-speed cable device that provides voice and data services using Internet Protocol (IP). This certification, DOCSIS (Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification) 1.1, confirms that the Tellabs CVM410 embedded multimedia terminal adapter (EMTA) will operate with almost any other DOCSIS 1.1-certified cable TV equipment. The Tellabs CVM410 EMTA delivers voice-over IP primary line telephony, cable TV and high-speed data to a home or small business over a hybrid fiber- coax (HFC) network. When the Tellabs CVM410 EMTA works with other DOCSIS 1.1-certified equipment, these systems will enable operators to achieve twice the level of high-speed Internet functionality over previous standards, while reducing operating costs by half.
