Tellabs is the only infrastructure vendor in the consortium, whose other members include France Telecom's Orange unit and several major research universities.

SARDANA is making a difference in the communications industry, now winning the Global Telecoms Business (GTB) Innovation Award 2011. Global Telecoms Business (GTB) recognizes the most innovative projects in the industry annually. The award committee notices the projects, which according to the committee "will make a difference to the communications sector."

In the SARDANA project, Tellabs provided GPON equipment and hosted lab demonstrations at its facilities. France Telecom tested the architecture in a field trial, and other partners provided technical support and research.
