JumpStart 400 optical access platform for carrier optical edge applications

SAN DIEGO -- Sorrento Networks (Nasdaq:FIBR - news), a leading supplier of end-to-end, intelligent optical networking solutions for metro and regional applications worldwide, today announced the addition of JumpStart(SM) 400, a CWDM (coarse wavelength division multiplexing) platform, to its portfolio of optical transport products. JumpStart 400 provides a flexible, entry-level solution for optical edge network applications and supports up to four high-bandwidth, full-duplex services on a single fiber. The JumpStart 400 platform will be generally available in January 2002, with volume shipments expected to commence in March 2002. "Service providers are seeing an opportunity to extend their optical networks to thousands of new customers at the network edge, provided they can do so cost-effectively," said Demetri Elias, Sorrento Networks' Vice President of Marketing.
