SkyStream, Corecess Do Broadband Video
The integrated platform, based on SkyStream's Mediaplex(TM) 20 Video Services Router and Corecess' 6800 Intelligent Access Server and 8100 VDSL remote DSLAM, offers telcos a comprehensive digital headend solution for more rapid and cost-effective deployment of video services over broadband. The SkyStream and Corecess integrated video over broadband solution will be on display in the Corecess booth #22755 at the Supercomm tradeshow in Atlanta from June 3-5.
"The commercial availability of headend and access technology that delivers high quality IP TV video has dramatically reduced the barriers to entry for telcos that are looking to compete with cable companies with triple play service offerings," said Steve Klein, vice president and general manager, Corecess Global. "Combining best-of-breed technologies with leaders such as SkyStream Networks ensures that telcos have access to the most comprehensive, cost-effective solutions for the deployment of video services today."
SkyStream and Corecess' partnership is in response to a rapidly expanding video market, particularly in the Asian telecommunications industry. According to InStat/MDR, a leading market research firm, the telco video market is growing. By 2007, InStat/MDR expects there to be 19 million telco subscribers to video services, including broadcast TV or video on demand. The firm also predicts that worldwide telco video revenue will reach $5.8 billion (USD) by the same year.
The combined video over broadband solution from SkyStream and Corecess is proven and available immediately for deployment in telco networks. Interested customers can visit Corecess demo centers in its offices in San Jose, Calif. and its corporate headquarters in Seoul, Korea for a full end-to-end viewing of the integrated solution. The integrated platform is based on proven technology backed by two industry-leading companies in the service provider equipment space, along with other partners that provide set-top box, middleware and VOD solutions. SkyStream is the leading provider of digital headends in video over broadband space. The company's networking solutions have enabled more than 150 enterprise, federal and global service providers to deliver converged video and IP data services reliably to multiple locations over wireline and broadcast networks. Corecess has shipped more than 2.7 million DSL lines to leading customers such as Korea Telecom, Hanaro Telecom, Yahoo Japan and China Telecom, and was named by Deloitte & Touche as one of the 10 fastest growing Asian companies in 2002.
"With telco service providers looking at new application areas and bridging from communication to entertainment services, high quality, cost effective and scalable end-to-end video over broadband solutions are required," said Bethany Mayer, vice president of product marketing, SkyStream Networks. "By combining high-performance products and ensuring support of industry standards and the compatibility of interoperable solutions, SkyStream and Corecess will enable telcos to quickly and reliably deploy enticing video services today for their consumer and business customers."
