TRONDHEIM, Norway and AMSTERDAM -- Two Norwegian startup companies are proving that it’s possible to deliver Internet-based television that’s both easy to deploy and easy to protect, all in the same system.

Secustream Technologies, an innovator in streaming media content protection, and SnapTV, a turnkey IPTV provider for network owners, have been deploying the new SecuShow™ advanced digital-rights-management technology in an IPTV streaming environment at trial client locations in their home country of Norway.

Now, the companies will be unveiling some of their initial results in stand 1.529 in Amsterdam at the International Broadcasting Convention (IBC2007), the leading annual event for multimedia content creation, management and delivery in the broadcast and entertainment industries.

Secustream’s SecuShow™ technology provides a novel approach to securing streaming media, using a variety of media keys, security servers and mobile guards that are cryptographically independent allowing for “second-by-second” protection that is extremely difficult and time-consuming to hack.

“SnapTV has taken a holistic approach to network IPTV delivery,” said Gisle Østereng, Secustream founder and CEO. “The Secustream SecuShow™ content protection system supports the range of operating systems and video formats used in SnapTV solutions providing content protection both at the source, during distribution and during media playback.”

“Our business model is designed to help even small network operators quickly integrate on-demand and pay-per-view content offerings into the product mix,” said Pål Hoff, CEO of SnapTV. “Working with companies like Secustream means we can offer a variety of PC or set-top box systems that stream high-quality video – but with the effective, easy security that content owners demand.”
