BELFAST, U.K. -- Latens, the producer of Europe’s most deployed software-based security for IPTV and Satlan, Poland’s leading systems integrator, today announced that the companies are working together to ensure that Satlan’s cable and IPTV projects can be secured by Latens advanced software-based Content & Revenue Protection systems.

The two companies have identified IPTV operators and cable companies as major targets for Latens solutions. Latens is one of the very few software-based conditional access (CA) solution vendors that can simultaneously protect IP and legacy cable, which makes the Latens solution particularly attractive to East European cable companies planning to migrate to IP in a staged process.

“We are seeing increased interest from customers for software Content & Revenue Protection, particularly in IPTV and from operators planning to move towards a hybrid IP and cable system,” says Piotr Morawski, President of the Board, Satlan. “For these customers we needed a software security solution that can secure both a DVB cable and an IPTV system simultaneously. After examining the various software security solutions available it was apparent to us that not only can the Latens portfolio of solutions protect DVB cable and IPTV, but its technology also provides operators with higher flexibility, scalability and security strength than other software CA solutions.”

“I look forward to protecting Satlan’s Pay-TV clients,” says Jeremy Thorp, CEO, Latens Systems. “Our support of the DVB standard means that unlike many of our competitors we are not limited to providing protection for start-up IPTV operators. Compliance with the DVB standard enables us to protect large cable installations and even to provide security for hybrid cable and IPTV systems. I’m thrilled that Satlan chose our solutions to offer to its customers and I look forward to working with Satlan to protecting the revenues and content of Poland’s cable and IPTV operators.”
