The Samsung S5N8947, a 32-bit RISC communication processor built around the industry-leading low-power ARM7TDMI® core, is ideally suited for use in ADSL modem gateway routers.“The combination of the ARM core-based S5N8947 processor and the Jungo residential/SOHO gateway solution provides a quick time-to-market, flexible home networking solution for OEMs and ODMs,” said Denise Kerstein, networking segment manager for ARM. “It is particularly suitable for low-power and cost-sensitive consumer data networking applications.”Jungo's OpenRG software suite provides a choice of operating systems, broadband applications, drivers and Web-based management, all tightly integrated to ensure high performance and improved time-to-market.The companies' joint solution supports a DSL and Ethernet Wide Area Network (WAN) interface and a variety of local area network (LAN) interfaces including Ethernet, 802.11b and universal serial bus (USB). The OpenRG software provides manufacturers with integrated modules for a Stateful Packet Inspection Firewall, Universal Plug and Play home networking, local Web-based management and remote upgrades.
