Professor Daniel Kofman named CTO at RAD Data Communications

TEL AVIV -- RAD Data Communications has announced the appointment ofProf. Daniel Kofman, a world-renowned expert in new networking technologiesand telecommunications systems, as the company's Chief Technology Officer(CTO).

"Given his experience and reputation, Dr. Kofman will undoubtedly make asignificant contribution to RAD's strategy regarding future technologies andapplications," stated Efraim Wachtel, President and CEO of RAD DataCommunications, upon making the announcement.

Daniel Kofman holds a doctorate with highest honors from ENST, France'sprestigious Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications, where he hastaught and conducted research for the past thirteen years. Apart fromserving as a full professor, he also heads ENST's Networks, Mobility andSecurity Research Group.

In addition, Prof. Kofman is the scientific coordinator of the EuropeanNetwork of Excellence Euro-NGI, composed of 59 partners from academy andindustry in eighteen countries, and chairman of its steering board. Euro-NGIis an integrated research effort focusing on the design of Next GenerationInternet. Prof. Kofman is also contributing to the preparation of theupcoming European Commission Framework Program 7 (FP7) in the area ofnetworking and the future of the Internet. He has advised variousgovernmental and research agencies as well as numerous companies in thetelecommunications industry, and is a frequent guest lecturer atuniversities in Europe, Asia and North and South America.

"In addition to the traditional responsibilities of a CTO, Dr. Kofman willalso strengthen RAD's working relationship with the European Commission andits IST-related projects," said Hugo Silberman, RAD's Vice President ofResearch and Development. "Professor Kofman will work to increase ouractivity in standardisation forums and intensify our cooperation withuniversities in Europe and throughout the world," he added.
