Intel Votes for Verismo

Intel Capital has led a $17 million funding round for Verismo Networks Inc. , the startup whose TV platform blends over-the-top video with traditional programming. The round is being announced today.

Why this is important
Backing from Intel isn't a guarantee of success, but it lends credibility to Verismo, a lesser-known name despite being seven years old. The company is among several that are pitching ways for telcos and cable operators to blend over-the-top video with traditional TV/video services. It was a strong theme at TelcoTV last week, with options being shown by more established competitors such as Minerva Networks Inc. , Nokia Networks , and Orca Interactive Ltd.

re: Intel Votes for Verismo

It looks like this deal is one of many being announced at a CEO Summit hosted by Intel Capital today.

I'm not at the event.  I'm just reading the @IntelCapital twitter feed and Intel Capital's Baris Askoy (@baris).  "28 Intel Capital Exits in 2010: 16 acquisitions and 12 IPO exits"
