Hulu: 'Virtual MSO' in the Making?
Speculation about the future of Hulu LLC leads today’s cable news roundup.
Walt Disney Co. (NYSE: DIS) and News Corp. (NYSE: NWS) are thinking about pulling some free content from Hulu, and possibly recasting it as "an online cable operator that would use the Web to send live TV channels and video-on-demand content to subscribers." Seven networks will soon feature interactive TV ads delivered by the Canoe Ventures LLC cross-MSO initiative, but it's not clear how Canoe will pull off goal of delivering ITV ads to DirecTV Group Inc. (NYSE: DTV) and Dish Network LLC (Nasdaq: DISH) homes.
