3:30 PM -- Over-the-top video startup Boxee landed a $6 million B round led by General Catalyst Partners, extending total funding to the $10 million mark. (See Boxee Raises $6M More.) In a blog post about the matter, Boxee founder and CEO Avner Ronen says the new cash and the new partner will help it "strengthen our relationships with big media and cable companies." "As we learned (the hard way), it is a complicated world," he added, an obvious reference to Boxee's problems getting access to Hulu LLC content… and then keeping that access. (See Boxee Finds a Workaround to Hulu Takedown.) Looking forward, Ronen notes that Boxee will be looking to improve the product and adding more content and developers, but just as importantly perhaps, he says Boxee will be pursuing a more "mainstream" strategy by getting Boxee's capabilities embedded into "connected TVs, Blu-Ray players, game consoles, and set-top boxes. We're already talking to device makers to ensure Boxee works on a variety of platforms for 2010." — Jeff Baumgartner, Site Editor, Cable Digital News
