OpVista & Cox : Who Knew?

Barely two years after changing directions and starting to sell its optical networking gear to cable MSOs, OpVista Inc. said Monday it has landed a multiyear contract with Cox Communications Inc. (NYSE: COX) to deliver its MetroVista DWDM optical transport system.

The gear will be used to help facilitate the Atlanta-based cable giant’s migration to a fully converged, next-generation DWDM network, according to both companies.

The deal marks the second major win for the Irvine, Calif., company, which bagged a deal with Time Warner Cable back in October 2003 (see Time Warner Deploys OpVista).

”This deal helps up to build our credibility within the industry,” says OpVista President Ron Foster. “It’s difficult for a small company to get recognition in the market. Cox is a technology leader, so them giving approval for our product is a big deal.”
