MINNEAPOLIS -- Optical Solutions Inc., the leading maker of fiber-optic voice, video and data solutions for service providers in the local access market, today announced that it will acquire Ziga Systems Corp., an engineering concern also based in Minneapolis. Under the transaction, Optical Solutions will acquire both talent and technological assets from Ziga Systems Corp. This includes Ziga's staff of 12 hardware and software design engineers, and certain proprietary technology related to fiber-to-the-home (FTTH), which is the hallmark of Optical Solutions' FiberPath(tm) line of products.

"This strategic acquisition will allow us to both accelerate our product development path and attract a wider base of customers," said Optical Solutions Chairman and CEO Darryl E. Ponder. "We anticipate tremendous growth in our company over the next several months, and this acquisition is an important building block toward getting there."
