GAITHERSBURG, Md. -- Optelecom, Inc. (Nasdaq: OPTC) today debuted its SpectraStream 128 single fiber video transmission system. Building upon the successful installation of its 64 channel SpectraStream 64 systems across locations in California, North Carolina, and New Jersey, Optelecom increased the system capability to transport up to 128 channels of uncompressed digital video over distances in excess of 50 kilometers (30 miles). Based on the Company's 10-bit digital high quality video transmission cards, each video channel exceeds the RS250C Short Haul SNR specification of 67 dB. Using CWDM technology with four or eight video channels on each wavelength, up to 16 wavelengths may be combined on one singlemode fiber. Each group of four or eight channels may be operated in either direction on the fiber. The system can be configured as either a point-to-point or an optical add/drop system that adds or drops channels at up to 17 locations along a single fiber. SpectraStream 128 features an extremely flexible option module system making it easy for designers to include data, audio, stereo audio, and contact closures along with each video channel as well as up to 128 channels of bi- directional audio or data. The SpectraStream series products are designed for traffic monitoring and intersection management, corporate security and surveillance, business television, airport security, and military surveillance.
