WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. -- Optical Communication Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: OCPI), a manufacturer of fiber optic subsystems and modules for metropolitan area, local area and storage area networks, today introduced its Bi-Directional (BiDi) Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) transceiver product line. The SFP BiDi is designed to meet the IEEE 802.3ah Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-BX10 specification for 10km point-to-point Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM) applications. In addition, the SFP BiDi transceiver has integrated Digital Diagnostic Monitoring (DDM) functionality.

“We’ve worked closely with key customers to develop an ergonomic latching system for very high port density systems with our SFP BiDi product line. We are very focused on the Gigabit Ethernet EFM point-to-point market space,” added Kirk Bovill, director of marketing.

OCP’s Gigabit Ethernet BiDi SFP product line consists of an upstream SFP module TRPBG1LXDBBSH and a downstream SFP module TRPBG1LXDBVS2. Together, they form a 1000BASE-BX10 link which allows full duplex communication over a single fiber over distances up to at least 10 km. The TRPBG1LXDBBSH module incorporates a 1310nm FP laser and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ah Draft 3.3 1000BASE-BX10-U specifications. The TRPBG1LXDBVS2 incorporates a 1490nm DFB laser and is fully compliant with IEEE 802.3ah Draft 3.3 1000BASE-BX10-D specifications. OCP’s new latching mechanism for the SFP BiDi modules has been ergonomically designed for high port density applications.
