LONDON -- ntl Telewest today confirmed that it will acquire the exclusive right to offer ‘near live’ clips of all Premier League football matches for the 2007/8-2009/10 seasons over the internet. Uniquely, these clips will be available to ntl Telewest customers on-demand for up to a week after transmission of a football match – the ultimate catch-up package.

Consumers will be able to re-live the best of the action from all the week’s Premier League matches on their PC, laptop or internet-enabled device. Packaged in a range of exciting formats that add real value to the consumer, the rights will be creatively bundled with the company’s broadband and mobile services.

Together with a range of other premium content, the rights will form part of a truly differentiated content proposition that enhances the consumer’s experience, reinforces the appeal of the company’s services and - following the recent acquisition of Virgin Mobile - fully exploits its ‘quad-play’ capability.

Commenting on the acquisition, Malcolm Wall, CEO of ntl Telewest’s Content division said: “Acquiring these rights is good news for the company and its consumers. As the UK’s largest broadband provider and the UK’s only ‘quad play’ operator, they are a perfect fit with our business. For football fans they will form the basis of the ultimate catch-up service and help underpin a genuinely value-added service.”
