NCTA 2006 in Pictures

Light Reading's coverage of the NCTA National Show in Atlanta earlier this week helped illuminate several panels, sessions, and hallway discussions concerning cable's strategy for countering the IPTV plans of the telephone companies. (See NCTA: Cable's IP Appreciation Party, Cuban Won't Stream HDNet, and Cable CTOs Tee Off on Telco TV.)

But after all the talk about network design, net neutrality, new regulation, and the cable "quadruple" [ed. note: ack!] play, we would be remiss not to point out that content is still king. Now that NCTA is officially over, we are cleaning out the memory on the camera and giving it all to you. Enjoy.

Finally, when we left the show, one thing we noticed is that getting an adult film actress's autograph is actually easier than getting a press kit at a lot of the show booths. Seriously. Look:

Who knew she was a Light Reading fan?

re: NCTA 2006 in Pictures Wouldn't all telecom trade shows be more fun if they organizers loaded up the joint with content providers?

re: NCTA 2006 in Pictures Back in the glory days of the Western Cable Show, somebody with a wry sense of humor (or maybe just lack of clue) placed the TBN booth right next to the Spice Channel booth. Hope somebody thought to record the dialog for posterity.
