(Nasdaq:CNXT), today introduced Miro(TM), the first in a family of communications convergence processors that offer telecommunications equipment manufacturers a simple and cost-effective solution for designing one system capable of transporting multiple media types across both wireless and wireline networks. The Miro M82610 convergence processor combines fifth-generation DSP cores and a programmable packet processor to provide the power and flexibility to bridge multiple voice networks. The device supports Mindspeed's patented intelligent speech transcoding technology that minimizes delay time between multiple wireless and wireline protocols, enabling carrier-class voice services over packet-based networks. Utilizing streaming packet interfaces to handle both complete Internet Protocol (IP) packets and asynchronous transfer mode (ATM) cells, the Miro convergence processor incorporates Mindspeed's field-proven echo canceller and runs a complete suite of wireless speech-compression algorithms for both global system for mobile communications (GSM) and code division multiple access (CDMA) air-interface standards, as well as Fax-Relay (fax over IP, or FoIP) and Modem Relay (modem over IP, or MoIP).
