Maipu Communication Technology selects Metalink's system on a chip SHDSL and Ethernet over SHDSL solutions

YAKUM, Israel -- Metalink Ltd. (Nasdaq: MTLK), a global provider and developer of high performance wireline and wireless broadband communication silicon solutions, today announced that the company's System on a Chip SHDSL and Ethernet over SHDSL solutions have been selected by Maipu Communication Technology Co. Ltd (Maipu Comm.) for its next generation product family. This design represents another important milestone in Metalink's penetration into the Chinese telecom and broadband markets.

"China showed the most sensational growth. It jumped from fourth place at end-2002 and overtook Korea, the USA and Japan to become as the World's biggest DSL country, with 10.9m lines by end-2003," according to a Point Topic DSL Analysis report.
