ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Mariner Networks, a subsidiary of Odetics Inc. (Nasdaq:ODETA) (Nasdaq:ODETB), Tuesday reached an additional DEXTER(R) 3000 development milestone with the introduction of OC-3 and STM-1 ATM Modules aimed at the optical access market. The DEXTER 3000 is the first of a family of high-performance, scalable access concentrators based on Mariner Networks' eXpedite(TM) technology. Using fine-grain ATM scheduling and the latest voice processing techniques, this multiservice access platform can grow with business needs while maintaining wire-speed bridging, routing, and protocol interworking.

"Alternative access carriers and MAN (Metropolitan Area Networks) operators are aggressively installing optical fiber at a time when regional, branch and small office users can not take full advantage of the high speed feed," said Tracy Earles, vice president of marketing for Mariner Networks. "We have developed a CPE platform that enables these suppliers to offer services today, through their optical fiber networks, at a price equal to copper-based networks."
