Marconi introduces MS840 multiservice platform, a customer located device used to support mixed E1 and fast Ethernet interfaces

CANNES, France -- Marconi Corporation plc (London: MONI and NASDAQ: MRCIY) today launched a cost-efficient multiservice customer premise located platform that will further enable the evolution of operators' infrastructure towards data-centric networking.

The new OMS840 is a fully integrated platform within Marconi's comprehensive optical multiservice metro portfolio. It is a cost-efficient multiservice customer located device used to support mixed E1 (2Mbit/s) and Fast (10/100Mbit/s) Ethernet interfaces. This compact 1U high device allows operators to simultaneously offer more competitive Ethernet services, such as Ethernet private lines, alongside traditional Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) services, such as leased lines, to their customers. It provides a rapid payback on investment and helps operators support the progressive migration of their business to new data-based services and revenue streams.
