SAN DIEGO, Calif. -- LightPointe, an innovator, designer and manufacturer of carrier-class optical transmission equipment using Free-Space Optics (FSO) technology, today announced it has been successful with its distribution partner, Spescom Telecommunications (Pty) Ltd., in a bid to be the sole vendor in providing FSO solutions to the incumbent telecom carrier of South Africa, Telkom South Africa (SA).Terms of the agreement and size of eventual Free-Space Optics deployment were not disclosed. “The success of our bid gives both LightPointe and Spescom a significant win in a region where the need for FSO is growing substantially,” said Christian L.
