The results, just posted (PDF) on the CableLabs site, showed that the Motorola SVG2500 and the Hitron BVG-3642 were both awarded certs for PacketCable 1.5 and Docsis 2.0.
The next two Waves, 54 and 55, should be similarly light in terms of the number of products submitted to CableLabs for certification and qualification testing.
Wave 56 will be the big story, as it's slated to be the first to conduct official tests on gear designed for the advanced Docsis 3.0 spec, which, among other things, supports channel bonding and IPv6. That round is expected to get off the ground in early October, with results determined by early- to mid-December.
Most vendors have yet to share their plans for that wave, but Motorola and Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) have already confirmed with us that they expect to submit their respective flagship cable modem termination system (CMTS) products for "Bronze" Docsis 3.0 qualification testing.
