DIETZENBACH, Germany -- The OFX-1 from LastMile opens up new efficiency potentials for Optical Access Networks. The high port density is achieved through the multifunctional module for the FiberPilot rack, which is ideal for the limited space available in many customer locations. Far from being the only aspect that enables cost savings, the small spare part inventories required due to the modular design, the novel concept of only two basic modules and the flexible migration ability make the OFX-1 a safe investment for the future. Equipped with new functions like the Priority Backup, the Drop and Continue function and the dynamic switchover between the Add/Drop Mode and the Express Mode via Management, the OFX-1 Optical Fiber X-Tribution opens up completely new fields of application for optical transmission technology. Furthermore, common and cost intensive functions previously only available for large DWDM systems in WAN environments are made accessible cost efficiently for optical access networks through the OFX-1. The OFX-1 enables cost effective implementation of ring structures in particular for solutions in MAN, LAN or SAN environments. The optional 3R function enables it to be used as an amplifier to span larger distances and construct ring topologies. The flexible options provided for changing device functions and its migration ability warrant a high level of investment protection in particular for operators of upgradable optical networks of any size.LastMile AG
