BigBand Networks appoints cable and technology veteran Dean Gilbert to board of directors

FREMONT, Calif. -- BigBand Networks, Inc., a leading provider ofbroadband multimedia routing systems for broadcast television and advancedservices, today announced that Dean A. Gilbert has been appointed to thecompany’s board of directors. As BigBand Networks grows its customer baseand revenues, Gilbert brings the company over 20 years of experience ascable industry executive, entrepreneur and technology leader with technologyand communications services companies such as Excite@Home, PositiveCommunications and KBLCOM (dba Paragon Cable).Gilbert was most recently executive vice president and general manager of@Home Networks from 1996 to 1999, where he was responsible for creatingservices and building relationships with cable multiple system operators(MSOs). He managed field operations, deployment, business development,partner relations, and various marketing activities, successfully securingannual revenues of over $275 million. Prior to his work at @Home, Gilbertwas president and CEO of Positive Communications, a Silicon Valley start-up,which he grew to $50 million in annual revenues.
