BASINGSTOKE, U.K. -- Fibernet [FIB LN], the high-speed data communications company, today announces TANet Metro/Wave, an innovative, cost-effective, scalable managed optical networking service designed for metropolitan enterprise networks. The TANet Metro/Wave service enables the affordable, fast and reliable transport of ultra-high bandwidth applications such as storage area networking, realtime disaster recovery, Gigabit LAN extension, and voice and video services to be implemented concurrently between sites in metropolitan areas. This service is one of the first of its kind in the UK to use the latest Cisco Metro Dense Wave Division Multiplexing (DWDM) technology, enabling data transmission between multiple metropolitan sites at speeds of up to 100 gigabits per second. Leading UK banks and financial institutions have already signed up the service in London.

Nigel Pitcher, Group Marketing Director for Fibernet said, " TANet Metro/Wave offers our corporate customers ultra high bandwidth managed services which were previously only available to carriers and ISPs. By leveraging Cisco's Metro DWDM technology through this innovative new managed service, Fibernet is able to pass the benefits of optical networking directly to its customers. Fibernet is once again breaking new ground."
