DALLAS -- Efficient Networks, Inc., a subsidiary of Siemens AG and a global leader in digital subscriber line (DSL) client hardware and software, today announced that Nippon Telegraph and Telephone East Corporation (NTT East), Japan's largest telecommunications provider, has chosen the Tango broadband access software suite as its standard software platform for facilitating high-speed DSL self-installation and access. The software suite, which includes Tango installer and Tango manager, provides a simple, efficient and cost effective way to quickly provide DSL service to the carrier's growing broadband customer base. NTT-East has purchased 1.2 million licenses of Tango installer and Tango manager through Japanese network solution integrator Terilogy.

"The Tango software provides the value our customers need from an operational and customer service perspective," said Takao Tsubuki, president at Terilogy. "The carriers we serve require software that delivers a very smooth end-to-end provisioning process with lower support costs, and the ability to provide multiple services simultaneously from a subscriber's desktop is also extremely valuable to them."

After a period of lab evaluation in which the Tango software was compared to other vendors' offerings, NTT-East chose Efficient Networks' products based on its superior feature set and ability to create a superb end-user experience for NTT-East's FLETS ADSL subscribers.

Tango installer and Tango manager are each part of the Tango broadband access software suite which allows carriers to simplify and facilitate the DSL provisioning process, significantly reducing support costs and technical issues. The Tango installer module makes it easy for carriers' DSL customers to install their own broadband service by automating a wide range of tasks that previously required extensive manual intervention or the assistance of technical support. Tango manager bundles Tango access with its broadband network access capabilities, and Tango support with features that facilitate troubleshooting and repair of any broadband related technical issues that may arise during the access process.

"We're very pleased that NTT-East has selected Tango, and having a service provider of this caliber choose our solution demonstrates the value it provides to the world's top carriers," said Sundar Raj, vice president of software at Efficient Networks. "The features we provide, such as self-check diagnostic tools and tutorial videos, help satisfy and retain DSL customers, which significantly lowers operational and support costs for the carriers.
