BERLIN -- The European Advanced Network Test Center(EANTC AG), a leading European provider of test and certification services,today announced the release of its Voice over Broadband (VoB) Emulator.

This new test solution addresses the needs of manufacturers and usersof DSL voice gateways to verify standards compliance and performancewithout incurring the cost of a large test bed. Testing time is greatlyreduced because the emulated Integrated Access Devices (IADs) and Class 5 Switches are managed by one common user interface, and all testcases can be run fully automated for regression testing.

Following the tremendous success of Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) serviceswith now more than 25 million installed DSL lines worldwide, DSL networkoperators started to roll out carrier-grade voice services based on theexisting infrastructure. There is a growing demand for test platformsthat can verify features, capacity and voice quality on both TDM and Voice over ATM interfaces.

The VoB emulator verifies Voice over DSL networks and gateways, usingBroadband Loop Emulation Signalling (BLES) and V5.x voice signallingprotocols. Features include the test of signaling protocol behavior and speech quality, as well as bulk call generation to verify robustness.

"Our vendor and carrier customers kept asking us for a Voice over DSLtest solution, because they tested with massive call generatorinstallations and were still unable to uncover certain types of bugs,"said Carsten Rossenhoevel, Managing Director Research and ManufacturerTesting, EANTC. "As a consequence, we decided to develop the VoB Emulatorin 2001, in cooperation with leading European Voice over DSL manufacturers. This first product release includes a unique full emulation of hundreds ofIADs and local exchanges enabling our customers to test scenariosthat would otherwise be impossible or extremely expensive to implement."

EANTC's VoB Emulator is a software solution based on high performance,real-time capable Sun Microsystems servers and industry-leading E1 and ATMcommunications cards from Adax.

EANTC will demonstrate the VoB Emulator at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany,March 12-19, 2003. It will be integrated in a live show case at themulti-vendor Network Information Center in Hall 15, stand A14.
