The 'Nati Gets Docsis 3.0

4:40 PM -- It does indeed look as if Time Warner Cable Inc. (NYSE: TWC)'s Docsis 3.0 reach is extending beyond New York City.

The MSO announced it has launched wideband services in Cincinnati, starting off with two tiers: 20 Mbit/s down by 2 Mbit/s upstream; and 50 Mbit/s down by 5 Mbit/s up.

And the launch was expected. Light Reading Cable reported last week that the MSO was getting ready to launch Docsis 3.0 services in parts of Texas, Ohio, and upstate New York later this year. (See Time Warner Cable's Next Docsis 3.0 Targets .)

But we were off on our prediction on where wideband might debut in Ohio first. Rather than Cincinnati, we speculated that it might first show up on Columbus, Akron, and Dayton. But the week's young yet…

quick clarification on this one...the announcement is for TWC's Business Class services, and they're not cheapo --  $309.95/mo for 20-meg; $349.95/mo for the 50-meg. JB
