Sadly for rapper MC Hammer, it's come down to entertaining attendees at trade show opening ceremonies these days
While the setting didn't exactly match the French Riviera, the picturesque home of May's Management World 2013, Washington, D.C. attracted more than 12,000 hardy souls to the recent annual Cable Show. (See MW13 Slide Show: Nice is Nice!)
The cable troops swarmed into the steamy U.S. capital to watch Brian Roberts show off Comcast's latest cloud-based gizmos, hear Michael Powell boast about cable's amazing prowess and see Jennifer Lopez rap about her cable network.
But they also came to D.C. to shake hands, strike deals, renew old friendships and see some fascinating new technologies and equipment.
You can find all the coverage from the event at our dedicated Cable Show 2013 site.
In this visual homage (beginning on the next page), we present some of the highlights (and lowlights) of this year's show -- we'll let you be the judge of which is which.
