Knology Expands D3 Footprint

RAPID CITY, S.D. -- Knology Internet service in the Black Hills is now faster than ever due to a free upgrade to the DOCSIS 3.0 platform. The company is also introducing an Economy Internet service that is 20 times faster than dial-up. The combination of high-speed Internet and Economy Internet service gives Black Hills residential and business customers the Internet speed that fits their needs and budget.

Officially launched today, Knology residential and business Internet customers will be able to experience greater productivity thanks to increased bandwidth speeds of up to 50 Mbps on the downstream and up to 5 Mbps upstream for business customers and 25 Mbps downstream and 5 Mbps upstream for residential customers. The DOCSIS 3.0 technology also provides significant advances to security and reliability. The Black Hills market is the first of Knology’s South Dakota markets to get this exciting new technology.

“This free upgrade puts existing and new Knology Internet customers at the highest level of speed, security and performance,” says Tony Palermo, vice president of marketing for Knology, Inc. “Our customers will now see Web pages open in the blink of an eye, and music and movie downloads that are faster than ever. DOCSIS 3.0 brings broadband to the next level. This is the latest example of Knology bringing leading edge technology to the Black Hills.”
