Insight Preps Docsis 3.0 Launches
Insight CEO Michael Willner revealed those plans Monday on his blog, noting that the MSO will start off with a tier that caps the downstream at 50 Mbit/s and the upstream at 5 Mbit/s.
Willner didn't provide any pricing details or specifically say when Insight will roll D3 into other Insight markets such as Lexington, Ky., and Columbus, Ohio.
"The best answer I can give you today is that you'll be hearing from us in just a few short weeks that we'll be rolling this service out in other districts, as well, shortly after the first two districts," he wrote, noting that Insight will soon introduce other new products, including a heartier lineup of HD and multi-room DVRs.
We've asked Insight for pricing detail and any more color it can share on its D3 rollout plans. Its current, high-end cable modem tier tops out at 30 Mbit/s downstream and 3 Mbit/s upstream.
