C'vision Boss Buys FiOS?

7:00 PM -- Chuck Dolan, the CEO of Cablevision Systems Corp. (NYSE: CVC) is supposedly a customer of Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE: VZ) FiOS, according to the investigative reporting of this blog.

The blog cites pictures posted on the Website of Bernstein Research showing a FiOS drop located right above Dolan's house as the "irrefutable" evidence against Dolan.

Putting these grainy-at-best photos aside, let's pretend for a moment that Dolan really is a FiOS subscriber. Would that really be such an abnormal thing? In the business world, we all pay close attention to our competitors to see what they're doing and where we need to improve if they're doing it better. Why is this situation any different?

Or maybe Dolan is simply helping out the competition instead of being loyal to his own company. Given the way his family runs the Knicks, this wouldn't surprise me.

re: C'vision Boss Buys FiOS? Interesting, but not surprising, as you said, given the competitive situation. I also wonder how many homes of cable execs have DirecTV and EchoStar dishes affixed....maybe not out in the open, but strategically hidden?

re: C'vision Boss Buys FiOS? We have a dish here in the New York office that seems to be strategically hidden from a signal everytime it rains.

re: C'vision Boss Buys FiOS? I think it's a good thing if the Cablevision top management watches what the competition is doing. The only way we can get better and defeat the competition is by keeping a close eye on them.

I'm glad to see the Dolans are "keeping their enemies close!"

Nothing to be alarmed about! This is good business!

re: C'vision Boss Buys FiOS? I agree.

It sounds like you work for Cablevision. Any chance you can convince Dolan to fire Isiah Thomas?
