PHILADELPHIA and SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Cisco Systems Inc. today unveiled a triple play strategy for cable operators that helps accelerate the cost-effective deployment of new data, voice, and video services. Cisco® is introducing a portfolio of standards-based intelligent products, solutions, and support offerings based on a common architectural framework. Delivering the architectural and economic benefits of broad industry standards these offerings will help Multiple System Operators(MSOs) transform their infrastructure towards an increasingly digital Multi-Service, Multi-Device broadband future.

Cable operators are challenging their suppliers to deliver more integrated and proven solutions to ease their challenges by introducing and scaling new data, voice, and video services. "The ability to build a fully integrated, highly scalable intelligent network is a compelling proposition for MSOs as they leverage their assets to deliver services and capabilities that their competitors cannot replicate. With its comprehensive solution offerings, Cisco is in excellent position to enable MSOs to build an intelligent technology foundation for the delivery of advanced video, data, and voice services."

"It's all about using standards-based technologies and intelligent networks to architect flexible and scaleable MSO infrastructures for data, voice, and video," said Paul Bosco, vice president, broadband and cable industry development at Cisco Systems. "Cisco's new platforms accelerate service velocity, enable innovation, and simplify the architectural introduction of new services. By using a common underlying foundation, cable operators will enjoy greater efficiencies and long term bundling benefits -- which will propel them to the forefront of the multimedia digital era."
