Chi-Town Bound?

12:55 PM -- Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) recently expanded the availability of Motorola Inc. (NYSE: MOT)-made set-tops with the TiVo DVR service on board in New England, but it appears that Chicago cable subs are the next in line. (See Comcast Expands TiVo Footprint .)

"We're going to be introducing [the TiVo combo] in other cities, probably starting with Chicago, in the first quarter next year," Comcast Corp. COO and cable division president Steve Burke said this morning during the MSO's earnings call.

Chicago is another Comcast market that uses the Motorola digital platform. No word yet on when TiVo and Comcast will have the DVR pioneer's service ported to the Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO) platform, although some money is certainly being thrown at the effort. (See Comcast Funds TiVo App Expansion.)

Nice to see that TiVo isn't rolling over, and good for Moto and Comcast integrating it in stb's, instead of trying to reinvent the wheel, as the satellite guys did.
