TEWKSBURY, Mass. -- Casa Systems, Inc. today announced the immediate availability of the C2000 series Digital Cable Termination System (DCTS), the industry's first next-generation MPEG and IP edge product that is available for shipping. The C2000 DCTS is designed to fit into today’s MPEG or DVB-C based digital video architectures, and to provide a seamless transition path to an all-IP infrastructure without a fork-lift upgrade.

The C2000 DCTS provides a complete solution for video-over-MPEG and video-over-DOCSIS. The C2000 series consists of C2100 Downstream DCTS and C2200 Upstream DCTS. Both C2100 and C2200 come in a 1RU form factor. The C2100 carries downstream traffic either in native MPEG packets or in DOCSIS frames. MPEG traffic and DOCSIS traffic not only can co-exist in the same platform, they can also co-exist on the same RF channel. Furthermore, the bandwidth resources allocated to MPEG or IP can be dynamically adjusted according to traffic needs. Casa Systems’ innovation in QoS enables guaranteed performance in bandwidth and jitter for both MPEG and IP traffic. The C2200 provides the DOCSIS return path termination for set-top-box controls and is optimized to manage over 100,000 set-top-boxes. The C2100 provides up to 64 channels of QAM in a 1RU chassis. The high density is optimized for unicast video services such as video-on-demand, network PVR and movie download, and switched digital video service. The statistical multiplexing capability also makes it an ideal platform to carry VBR traffic for TV programs on demand. The C2200 can provide up to 32 channels of DOCSIS upstream burst mode receivers. Both C2100 and C2200 support up to four Gigabit Ethernet ports for uplink connection.
