MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Camiant, Inc., a leading provider of intelligent policy servers for the broadband industry, today announced that its QBUS Multimedia Service Controller has been qualified by CableLabsR as a PacketCableT Multimedia (PCMM)-compliant policy server. CableLabs' PacketCable initiative was formed to develop interface specifications for delivering advanced, real-time multimedia services over the two-way cable plant.

"As one of the first companies to receive PacketCable Multimedia qualification, Camiant's commitment to delivering the highest quality multimedia service tools is reinforced," said Tom Cady, President and CEO of Camiant. "PCMM is market ready, and cable operators now have the ability to deploy a fully tested and qualified PCMM policy server and CMTS devices that enable them to deliver a myriad of advanced broadband services more efficiently and at lower costs."

Camiant's QBUS Multimedia Service Controller (MSC) allows operators to prioritize service delivery based on factors such as subscriber-tier, application and network status. The Camiant QBUS MSC then dynamically directs the CMTS to provide service according to the operator's policies providing opportunities to increase the average revenue per subscriber.
