BOCA RATON, Fla. -- CableRunner North America, LLC, a public/private business venture part owned and operated by the City of Vienna, Austria, Water and Sewer Department (Wien Kanal Abwassertechnologien GmbH), a leading fiber optic infrastructure provider, announced today that the company's new SewerLine(tm) Flexible(tm) system's advanced technology expedites the building of private, secure backbone and access fiber optic infrastructures. This presents a new business model that addresses the needs of homeland security by permitting governments to assert ownership of critical infrastructure without relying on private telecoms as a sole source provider. The Flexible system is quickly installed in both man and non-man accessible existing city infrastructures without the drawbacks inherent to conventional fiber optic deployment and at a fraction of the cost. Offering maximum flexibility, the Flexible system is easily scalable, upgradeable and interchangeable. CableRunner technology is already being utilized for sharing critical governmental information in cities worldwide including the City of Vienna, Austria, home of UNO-City - the seat of the IAEO (International Atomic Energy Organization), the UNIDO (United Nations Industrial Development Organization) and the OPEC (Organization for Petrol Exporting Countries). Being recently introduced to the U.S., CableRunner NA is directing its business model toward local, state and federal government needs. Since 9/11, the federal government is re-assessing its networking strategy, which, at present, largely consists of leasing bandwidth from telecoms that are a part of the GSA-run FTS contracts. Given the increasing usage of Internet type and other telecom services, the United States government is becoming increasingly reliant on the private and unknown security practices of telecoms for its own information security. "Our approach to addressing fiber optic infrastructure deployment concerns is radical in the industry," said Claudia Nettig, president and CEO, CableRunner NA. "Not only do we streamline the entire installation process, but, we develop advanced technologies that focus on real solutions for critical needs - this is our specialty. To our knowledge, no one else in the fiber-in-the-sewer industry has specifically addressed these issues and can deliver a tested and proven solution." CableRunner North America LLC
