GHENT, Belgium -- The Euro-DOCSIS Certification Board announces that it granted Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 qualification for one Cable Modem embedded in a DVB-C set-top box and for one CMTS. In this wave, three E-MTAs were also Euro-PacketCable certified by the Euro-PacketCable Certification Board.

The Euro-DOCSIS Certification Board granted Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 qualification to the Thomson DCI5200, a cable modem embedded in a DVB-C set-top box. This is the first qualified Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 modem in a DVB-C set-top box.

Arris also obtained Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 qualification with its Cadant C4 CMTS.

The following three E-MTAs obtained Euro-PacketCable certification, including Euro-DOCSIS 2.0 certification: the Cisco-Linksys CM2P2E, the Scientific Atlanta EPX2203 and the Thomson THG520.

The certification process for Euro-PacketCable Multimedia compliant CMTS’s and Policy Servers also started in this wave. Although no product was qualified, the products showed enough maturity to be qualified soon.

The Euro-PacketCable Certification Board also decided to include Media Gateways in the Euro-PacketCable certification process from Wave 19 on, scheduled to start in May 2005.

The ECB consists of 12 European cable operators (Casema, Essent, Ewt Breitbandnetze, Ish, Liwest, Netcologne, NTL, Tele Columbus, Telenet, Telewest, TV Cabo and UPC). The Euro-DOCSIS Certification Board grants certification to Euro-DOCSIS 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0 compliant cable modems, and the qualified status to CMTS equipment and cable modems in DVB-C set-top boxes, based on lab tests completed by tComLabs. The Euro-PacketCable Certification Board grants Euro-PacketCable certification to embedded Multi-media Terminal Adapters, Euro-PacketCable qualification to CMTS, CMS, and IPAT equipment, and Euro-PacketCable Multimedia qualification to CMTS and Policy Server equipment, also on the basis of the tests executed by tComLabs.
