Aurora Networks appoints cable veteran Howard 'Scotty' Flink vice president of international sales

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Aurora Networks, a leading developer and manufacturer of advanced optical transport systems for broadband networks, announced today the appointment of Howard "Scotty" Flink to the newly created position of Vice President, International Sales. He will be responsible for all sales operations outside of North America, including Europe, Latin America and Asia.

"Scotty's twenty-two plus years of international cable television experience will be extremely valuable as Aurora expands to serve areas outside of North America," said Guy Sucharczuk, President and Chief Executive Officer of Aurora Networks. "We will build on our success in the United States and Canada and will leverage Scotty's strong reputation and extensive knowledge of the international market."

Scotty began his technical career in the U.S. Navy as an Electronics Technician, eventually developing and implementing the U.S. Navy Calibration Training Program. After 16 years of active duty, Scotty transferred to the U.S. Army Active Reserves and began a career in the cable television industry with Jerrold Electronics. Since that time, Scotty has held a number of executive positions with several cable companies, including Gulf Coast Teleception, Coral Electronics and Gilbert Engineering, where he spent 28 years. For the past 22 years, he has been focused on the evolving international market. During his career, Scotty has been recognized as a Fellow of the Cable Pioneers, a Pioneer of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers United Kingdom (SCTE UK) and a Fellow of the WSCTE Canada. Scotty's experience in global relations resulted in his appointment as an Advisor to the U.S. Ambassador to England, The Honorable William J. Crowe, Jr., during 1997 and 1998.
