MINNEAPOLIS -- ADC (NASDAQ:ADCT - News; www.adc.com), a leading supplier of infrastructure solutions for fiber-to-the-x (FTTX) networks, today announced that Arvig Communication Systems (ACS) of Perham, Minn., has installed OmniReach(TM) Fiber Access Terminals in order to simplify its FTTX network installation, maintenance, and management of two fiber deployments in the heart of Minnesota's lake country.

ACS built two FTTX networks: one for the rural area in the Perham Exchange, and another in a lake-area golf course development to serve an affluent residential area near Thumper Pond. This latest fiber installation in west central Minnesota includes ADC OmniReach 12-inch Fiber Access Terminals (fiber/copper), which include a robust stainless steel pedestal cover, and 10-inch Fiber Access Terminals (fiber only) with a rugged polypropylene housing. For both single-family homes, as well as multiple dwelling units, ADC OmniReach Fiber Access Terminals provide physical protection, long-life reliability, superior fiber management, and an aesthetically appealing appearance.

"We have a longstanding relationship with ADC whose industry-leading FTTX solutions perfectly match our network infrastructure requirements for bringing fiber connectivity to our service area," said Andy Klinnert, director of network operations for ACS. "ADC's Fiber Access Terminals are designed for passive optical networks like ours, proving again and again to be the right mix of robust, user-friendly, and cost-effective platforms for delivering fiber optic service drops in our FTTX deployments."

The OmniReach Fiber Access Terminal's dome-style pedestal provides a continuous barrier to water and rodent intrusion, and uses a bell-jar effect to provide flood protection up to NEMA 6 standards. To achieve long-term flexibility and reliability, the fiber management inside the terminal ensures proper bend radius is maintained. Technicians also have easy access to the individual fibers they need, whether fusion spliced or connected with SC or LC connectors.

"ACS prides itself on delivering cutting-edge technology and services to its customer base of rural communities in west central Minnesota," said Pat O'Brien, president of the Global Connectivity Solutions Business Unit for ADC. "Demonstrated in this work with ACS, is our dedication to serving the needs of rural Minnesota with dependable and progressive communications, information, and entertainment services through the deployment of our FTTX solutions that are not only capable of handling today's voice, video, and data applications but also the emerging applications of the future."
