SUWANEE, Ga. and BOCA RATON, Fla. -- ARRIS (Nasdaq: ARRS), the leading provider of broadband access, delivery, and management solutions, and Axerra Networks, “The Pseudo-Wire Company™,” and the leader in providing circuit emulation and service emulation solutions over packet access networks, today announced a working solution that gives cable operators and multiservice operators (MSOs) the abilility to serve the lucrative corporate market for voice and data services over hybrid fiber/coax (HFC). The solution enables full-featured, carrier-grade voice and data services to be offered from cable operators’ existing HFC infrastructures. In addition, the solution enables MSOs to penetrate the lucrative wireless backhaul market by providing an alternative to T1 leased lines in the Radio Access Network.

The solution combines the capabilities of Axerra's family of AXN Pseudo-Wire Gateways and Access Devices™ with the DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS capabilities provided by ARRIS’ Cadant family of Cable Modem Termination Systems (CMTSs). The combined solution enables cable operators to deliver the revenue-generating services for which corporations have traditionally paid telecom carriers, including T1 and E1 leased lines, full-featured voice connections to the public-switched telephone network, Frame Relay, a range of Layer 2 VPNs (Virtual Private Networks) including Transparent LAN services (TLS), and even cell-site backhaul service for mobile/wireless operators.

The ability to combine ARRIS’ product line with Axerra’s expertise in circuit emulation and service emulation means that cable providers can expand beyond the traditional residential market and meet the growing demands for new and advanced services for commercial customers.

"Combining ARRIS’ solution with Axerra’s pseudo-wire technology empowers cable operators to compete with telecom carriers by enabling them to offer a full portfolio of voice and data services to business customers," said Stephen R. Jolley, VP Marketing & Business Development for ARRIS TeleWire.
